The role of a Product Manager is a mystery to most. I still get questionable looks from friends and family when they ask me what I do. I imagine my parents hoped I crossed paths with Steve Jobs or Bill Gates in another lifetime while my hometown friends question how I went from being surrounded by cute puppies, Louis Vuitton satchels, and catered meals in Santa Monica, to on the field at an NFL game at Wembley, to knowing more about Call of Duty than Gen Z.
To me, Product Management is an art that wasn’t taught in college; it’s being a strategic visionary willing to collaborate with others and push boundaries to get results and to make people feel something while contributing positively to their lives. Product Managers find the biggest customer problems to solve and then define them, get buy-in from executives and stakeholders and work with a cross-functional team to bring the vision of a solution to fruition…
